After a stunning double victory one week earlier in Qatar the French girl was again battling for the lead at Nakhonchaisari in Thailand but crashes cost her the chance of victory. However she remounted each time to finish second and, despite surrendering the red plate of the official series leader, Livia goes to the next round in England at the end of May as joint points-leader with four events of the six round series still to run.

Meghan Rutledge of Monster Bud Racing Kawasaki completed the podium with third in each moto to stay third in the series. The Australian teenager retains her intact hopes of championship honours as she sits just sixteen points shy of the points leaders.

Livia Lancelot: “ I lost the red plate this weekend but that’s not so important for me as there are six rounds in the series. I’m more upset by my riding, as I crashed in both races. In the first race I couldn’t do anything when Fontanesi changed her line; I was so close that I went down. I have the speed and the physical condition to be in front, but this weekend I was not strong enough mentally! We are tight in the standings with Kiara, unfortunately there’s no other rider at the moment who can race with us so we could have a lot of pressure for the final round if we always finish first and second to each other.”

Meghan Rutledge: “I’m happy with my results this weekend. I had bad starts which made it a little bit more difficult pushing through the pack, but I got some good points and there’s still four more rounds to go. This week we stayed in Thailand and I worked physically to prepare this GP, trying to get used to the weather a little more by doing some running but not much you can do when you can’t ride your bike. Now I will fly back home to race some National championship rounds and then come back to Europe for the British GP.”
